Experimentation...

Yesterday I was really left flustered and annoyed, when I shared a new song with someone who is supposed to be a guidance figure in my career, only to be left feeling belittled because it "wasnt on the right track", or that I'm "not staying focused" .....

As an artist, why should I not be allowed to create any way I want to , if I feel it is going to inspire me and help me see my songs in a new light. If I want to add a certain beat to one song, if it is going to inspire me to finish a song I havent touched in a few years, then why the eff not? I think any form of song arrangement , or experimentation IS "focus"... as long as I am working on my music, it should be considered focus. Well that is my little rant for the day ... it has been heavy on my mind since yesterday afternoon , and a quote that I just found while reading my monthly subscription to Glamour Magazine.... it made me go , AHA! Now here is someone who knows what theyre talking about .... Thank you Tori Amos....
